In October of 2020, the Minister of the Environment & Climate Change Canada, Jonathan Wilkinson, announced details of the government's plan to ban single use plastics.

The government also confirmed that it would add "plastic manufactured items" to "Schedule 1" (also referred to as the toxic substances list) of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999.

During this session, Aiñe will be joined by Stan Rodriguez, VP Regulatory Affairs at the Vinyl Institute of Canada to discuss:

  • Political alignment between the US and Canada
  • Understanding the Government's approach
  • Short- and long-term Impacts to the plastics industry
  • Challenging the nomenclature
  • Impacts on trade
  • How the vinyl industry is navigating this issue
