This session is specifically tailored to look at fenestration from a technical accessibility perspective with a focus on the commercial industry (however there are a number of connections that can be made between commercial and residential design).

We'll go through the requirements applicable to doors, windows, their hardware and glazing characteristics pursuant to the 2015 National Building Code Section 3.8. Accessibility, look at future accessibility requirements coming down the pipeline for the 2020 edition, and cross reference the British Columbia Building Code and Vancouver Bylaw where applicable or where a comparison is warranted.

More importantly, the session will look at the intent behind the technical design requirements from a universal and user-friendly perspective, as sometimes not all details of doors and windows are captured by the Code and oftentimes going above and beyond the Code means creating a better user experience for so many more people.

Costs: FENBC Members no cost
Costs: Non-Members = $50 per session. Must be paid be you can attend the webinar.
